Matador Deep Sea Fishing is a family run fishing operation dedicated to providing unforgettable fishing experiences. Owned and operated by Captain John and Sarah Kavanagh. John and Sarah owned and operated fishing vessels on Cape Cod and Rhode Island. Capt. John worked fishing boats on the North Atlantic since he was 12 yrs. old and for the past 11 years Sarah has been at the helm of the business driving its success. John and Sarah and their 6 kids relocated to St Pete in 2018 and began to fish the Gulf of Mexico. Successfully commercial fishing Grouper, Snapper and Stone Crab. The two now bring their experience to you. The newly purchased vessel the Barbara O is a legend from Cape Cod. Built by HH Marine in Maine she is 42’ in length and boasts a 900HP Caterpillar Engine. The vessel is incredibly stable, fast and can take on any sea thrown at her. She is also equipped with a roomy cabin, A/C, full head with shower, galley, premium sound system and top of the line electronics. Since we ride on the best we also fish with the best. The vessel is equipped with brand new Shimano gear and custom rods. Our trips are designed to go from making family memories near shore with the kids to full on extreme offshore experiences for the serious angler with the click of a button. We will fish anywhere from 15 miles to 100 miles out. From 4 hrs. to 24 hour trips. We target Grouper, American Red Snapper, Hog Fish, Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna, Tarpon, Shark and anything else the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. STONE CRAB!!! We also offer a combination trip during season where will we take you fishing on your chosen trip and then you can join in haulin Stone Crab traps. The claws we catch YOU KEEP!!!
